Following good reports from our previous visit at Christmas, we are returning to Shropshire and the Buckatree Hall Hotel for Christmas 2019. Shropshire is famously associated with the Ironbridge Gorge where the Industrial Revolution began in the 18th century. Also known as the ‘Valley of Invention’, the Gorge is dominated by the impressive iron bridge, the first in the world to be constructed from iron in 1779. We will also visit the historic town of Shrewsbury with its black and white timbered buildings and cobbled alleyways and to get us into the Christmas spirit, there will be a visit to a local pantomime.
Monday: We travel to Shropshire arriving at the Buckatree Hall Hotel mid- afternoon, where we will be welcomed with a cream tea. There will be entertainment after dinner this evening.
Tuesday: After breakfast we head for historic Shrewsbury where there will be time to enjoy the attractions
of this market town and to have lunch before we return to the hotel for dinner and tonight’s entertainment.
Wednesday: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and perhaps take a stroll before Christmas lunch. This afternoon there will be time to relax and listen to the Queen’s speech with tea and Christmas cake, followed by an evening buffet dinner and quiz.
Thursday:We take a short drive to the beautiful Ironbridge Gorge with time to visit the village of Ironbridge. We return to the hotel for a light lunch before travelling into nearby Telford where we enjoy a traditional Christmas pantomime. This evening there will be a Gala Dinner and live entertainment.
Friday: After breakfast we begin our homeward journey.
We will be staying at the Buckatree Hall Hotel situated at the foot of Wrekin Hill close to Telford. The hotel is a
country house with its own lake and comfortable rooms and facilities. All the bedrooms are en-suite and have hairdryers and tea/coffee making facilities and the hotel has a lift.
