Taking its inspiration from the traditional German Christmas Market, the historic city of Winchester offers one of the best festive markets in the country. Set around the beautiful Cathedral Close, wooden chalets are decked in colourful lights and sell a range of gifts and food items, many of which come from Germany. In addition to the market, Winchester offers visitors excellent shopping facilities and a number of historic attractions, in particular the Cathedral is well worth a visit.
