Germany’s beautiful Black Forest is our destination for this new tour which offers wonderful rolling scenery, traditional villages and a way of life that has remained un-changed for centuries. In the picturesque villages many workshops still specialise in producing cuckoo clocks and intricate carvings and to learn about the history and culture of this fascinating region, we include a visit to the Black Forest Open Air Museum, as well as taking a sightseeing cruise on Lake Titisee and two scenic rail journeys through the countryside.

Itinerary

Wednesday: We travel to Dover for our crossing to Calais before continuing on into Belgium and the Hotel Horizon at Ghislenghien where we stay overnight.
Thursday:We travel on through Belgium and into Germany as we head for the Black Forest and the town of Gengenbach where we stay for the next five nights.
Friday: A day to relax and explore the local area, visit the Old Town and stroll by the river. This evening there will be a wine tasting at the Gengenbach Winery, close to the hotel, before we return to the hotel for dinner.
Saturday: Today we head for the old walled town of Villingen where we take a journey on the Black Forest Railway to Hausach, which includes loops, tunnels and a high viaduct. This afternoon we join our English speaking guide as we enjoy a walking tour of the Black Forest Open Air Museum.
