In 2019 Leeds Castle celebrates its 900th anniversary and we will be visiting during the famous Festival of Flowers which features beautiful floral displays created by award-winning international designers both inside and outside the castle. Over the years, Leeds Castle has been a favourite royal residence and the private property of six of England’s medieval queens. The Castle was used as a palace by Henry VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon. We will also be visiting Sissinghurst Castle, home to one of the most beautiful gardens in the country, designed by Vita Sackville-West, and spending time in the Cathedral city of Canterbury.
Tuesday: We travel to Kent arriving at the hotel late afternoon.
Wednesday: We begin the day with our visit to Leeds Castle, where there will be time to enjoy the Festival of Flowers before continuing on to Sissinghurst for our afternoon visit.
Thursday: Today we travel to Canterbury where there will be free time to explore the city and visit the famous Cathedral.
Friday: After breakfast it is time to begin our journey back to Derbyshire.
Close to the seafront in Folkestone, the Victorian Burlington Hotel is our base for this new tour. The hotel has
comfortable bedrooms served by a lift with TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The restaurant serves traditional dishes with an emphasis on locally sourced produce.
