famous poet’s life. Later we visit the magnificent Dumfries House and Estate, where we have a guided tour
and afternoon tea.
Tuesday: After breakfast we begin our journey to Aberdeen, stopping off at Dundee to visit Discovery Point, where we explore Captain Scott’s ship and find out about his remarkable Antarctic expedition, before completing our journey.
Wednesday: We have a leisurely day in Aberdeen to explore all that it has to offer.
Thursday: This morning we visit Crathes Castle and Gardens, before enjoying a short but scenic rail journey on the Royal Deeside Railway, famously used by the Royal family and their visitors travelling to Balmoral.
Friday: With our luggage loaded, it is time to start the journey home.
Our first destination is the Marine Hotel in Troon, where we spend two nights. The hotel overlooks the golf course and out towards the Isle of Arran and is very well equipped with a leisure club and restaurant with
beautiful views. Our second hotel is the Mercure Ardoe House Hotel close to Aberdeen. A country house hotel with landscaped grounds, the hotel is stylishly decorated and has many original features. The hotel has a leisure club with indoor pool, sauna, spa and gym. The lift accessible bedrooms at both hotels are well furnished and have en-suite bathrooms and tea/coffee making facilities.
