The classic seaside resort of Southport offers miles of golden beaches, excellent shopping facilities and fine architecture. The elegant Victorian canopied shops along Lord Street are a real feature of the resort, as is the pier, the oldest surviving iron pier in the country. We will enjoy a full day excursion to Liverpool during our stay and also visit Formby, where Antony Gormley’s famous statues gaze out to sea.
We will be staying at the Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa Hotel, set in the countryside between Formby and Southport. The hotel offers luxurious accommodation following a complete refurbishment in 2017 and has excellent facilities including an extensive spa and leisure centre with indoor pool. The en-suite bedrooms are modern and very well furnished and all the bathrooms have a separate bath and shower. The hotel has a lift. The light and bright public areas have views over the golf course and there is a pleasant patio for relaxing outside in the warmer weather.
