Enjoy a real taste of Switzerland on this authentic tour with wine, cheese and chocolate! We will be visiting the UNESCO World Heritage site of Lavaux Vinorama, where terraced vineyards cover the steep valley sides down to Lake Geneva, then enjoying a cruise on a Belle Epoque Paddle Steamer on the Lake. One of the highlights will be the journey on the famous Swiss Chocolate Train which includes a visit to the Gruyère Cheese Factory and the Cailler-Nestlé Chocolate factory and of course we include tasting!
Saturday: Travel to Dover for the crossing to Calais, then continue south to Reims, where we stay overnight at the Mercure Reims Parc Des Expositions Hotel.
Sunday: Travel through France and into Switzerland as we head for Leysin and the Central-Residence Hotel, where we stay for the next five nights.
Monday: A free day to relax and enjoy the hotels leisure facilities or explore the local area. There is a cable car from Leysin up ino the mountains for spectacular views.
Tuesday: After breakfast, we travel to Lavaux Vinorama, to see the spectacular vineyards which cling to the hillside. Here, we enjoy a tasting package of 3 Chasselas white wines with bread, water and puff-pastry sticks, served with a fantastic view over the lake. This afternoon we take to the water as we enjoy a scenic cruise on Lake Geneva on board the Paddle Steamer from Vevey-Marche to Chillon.
Wednesday: A day to indulge as we take the unique Swiss Chocolate Train to sample cheese and
chocolate! Coffee and croissants are also included on the train as we travel through scenic countryside,
before enjoying our factory tours and tastings.
Thursday: Today we visit the famous ski resort of Gstaad, where we enjoy free time before returning to Leysin.
Friday: This morning it is time to leave Switzerland as we start our return journey back to Reims and the Mercure Hotel.
Saturday:We have an early start as we drive back to Calais for the ferry, before continuing on to Derbyshire.
The Central-Residence Hotel in Leysin provides our accommodation for this tour. Although modern on the exterior, inside the hotel favours a traditional Swiss style with wooden furnishings. The en-suite bedrooms are comfortable and have hairdryers, television and some have views over the valley. The traditional style restaurant has a terrace with panoramic views.
The hotel has a lift and some ground floor rooms are also available. The hotel has a well-equipped leisure centre with an indoor pool, sauna and steam room.
